an otherwise awesome card at churchill is virtually unplayable with the horrid weather conditions. i do, however, like some horses at hollywood today at big prices- all of them are going to be pretty hefty prices, so we need only hit to make this a winning day....

r1: my onomatopoeia and blackbird. sure, eatern point is going to be about 3/5 in here, dropping out of maiden specials for baffert and flores. question is, why is this horse being dropped two levels today? don't know the answer, but i'll take a small swing on these two inside horses...

r3: gassan royal. yeah, he's probably not a legit grade 1 turfer, but this is a far cry from a legit grade 1 turf race. this thing is wide open and 'royal got a very poor ride from santiago last time. if he gets a more aggressive ride, who knows, this son of royal academy may just surprise at a big big number. sure, would i rather have the other alex (solis) riding? of course, but he's opted for the other frankel turfer and this will help my price.

r6: easy entrance. this maiden speecial stinks, as the two maiden 40k class jumpers will probably go off favored. 15/1 on a son of elegant ease with fast works? would i bet a ton of $ on this guy/single him? hell no, but i'll take a flyer and hope gutierrez gets his first win of the year.

r7: cappucino kid and savage. i will ALWAYS have a soft spot for lobo trained horses- he's made me thousands of dollars the past few years (including a nice 15-1 score on savage at golden gate in jan, and lovely rafaela last saturday in the honeymoon), so i'll almost always make a small play on his long priced horses. savage looks like he may be headed down the ladder, but he gets a good post and will be a big number. cappucino kid has been off a while for the underrated peter eurton, but has been training very well and he is simply a win machine with 10 photos from 29 starts. he's 8/1 and probably should be 3/1.

r9: gift of the eagle. this is a grade 2??? jesus, this races has plumetted down in recent years - sunday silence won this race, the wicked north won this race.... even the score???

r10: wicked magic. speaking of the wicked north, he has a gelding in here in the finale trained by doug o'neill who is 30/1 on the morning line. most likely winner? clearly not. but, he gets the outside, draw, takes off the blinks and gets in at scant 110 lbs. can't pass that up.

good luck today.
